Green Chia Detox Pudding [Replete Summer Cleanse Recipe]

Our bodies need a good seasonal cleaning just as much as our homes do! While your body is designed to detox efficiently on it’s own, most of us are not well equipped to deal with the onslaught of chemicals and toxins that we’re exposed to on a daily basis. ‘Toxins’ (aka heavy metals, pesticides, medications, chemicals and food additives) enter your body everyday through the air you breathe, the water you drink & the food you eat. Most of us are completely overburdened with these chemicals from our environment, which is why we commit to a food-based cleanse four times yearly. No crazy water fasts, juice-only diets or colonics. Just some everyday, seasonally appropriate changes that give your detox organs the break they need to repair and regenerate.

This Green Chia Detox pudding is one of my favourite recipes from my summer detox menu. (Note: The Replete Summer Cleanse is available for free to all patients, mention this post at your next visit and I will send you a copy of the summer cleanse e-book). Not only is chia a great ‘cooling’ food, it’s also an amazing detox aid. Chia seeds contain omega 3’s + tons of fibre to lubricate your digestive system and keep things moving. I’ve further detoxified this delicious recipe by adding spirulina powder. Spirulina is rich in plant proteins to promote phase 2 liver detox; it also adds a beautiful green hue and plenty of antioxidants to this delicious summer breakfast.
