My Morning Matcha Latte

October 4, 2017 By Sarah White No Comments

This doctor’s current morning beverage of choice is a matcha latte with almond milk. While regular coffee can leave me feeling anxious and overstimulated the matcha keeps me cool and focused throughout my mornings thanks to it’s high levels of l-theanine. L-theanine is an amino acid found in tea that promotes alpha brain waves, which are responsible for memory and learning and gets me in a state of alert relaxation. Matcha contains up to five times as much L-theanine as regular green tea (20 mg versus 4 mg) and less caffeine than a cup of coffee (around 70mg vs. 100 – 200mg). Lately, I’ve also been adding a scoop of collagen peptides and a few teaspoons of coconut butter to my daily brew. The collagen increases skin thickness to reduce the appearance of both fine lines & cellulite (this is clinically proven people) while coconut manna, made from both the coconut oil + the coconut flesh, provides healthy fats to further support skin health.

My Morning Matcha Latte

I've recently switched from coffee to a daily matcha-based latte. Matcha has less caffeine and more antioxidants than coffee and is a healthy and delicious way to start the day.

  2. Warm almond milk on the stove until steaming and add collagen, coconut manna, cinnamon and your sweetener of choice and whisk vigorously until everything is dissolved.
